Dear Parent/Caregiver

We are seeking expressions of interest from our community to host Chinese students as part of group visits to Waimate High School in term 3 2024. If you have considered hosting, this is a great opportunity to offer a ‘home away from home’ and know that your host child will return home to China with a positive experience and lifelong friendship.

A payment would be made to host families for hosting students of $300 per week per student, or part thereof.

Details are still being finalised from China including flight details, but we understand that the students would spend a week at Waimate High School and then a week exploring New Zealand with a tour operator. There is the opportunity to host more than one student per homestay (two students per room and up to four students per homestay) or you may wish to host only one student.

During the day at Waimate High School, students experience a programme of language acquisition and general ‘Kiwi experiences’. Our students benefit from hosting international students as it fosters cultural exchange, enriches diversity, and promotes global awareness.
